| Skill-based training in city |
When you go for a job, nobody looks at what degree you hold. What matters are the skills you have acquired during the course. But every course today prepares students to just appear for examinations.
This was what Nageen Sharma, MD, Canada Technology & Research Centre India emphasised upon on Wednesday after launching undergraduate and post graduate courses in the city by CTRC in collaboration with Durham College, Canada.
These courses promise to give industry focused training with inputs from professionals in the real world from both India and abroad.
The first batch of 150 students will start their course by end of July.
The course had different subjects such as business administration, sports management, retail and supply chain management computer graphics amongst others. Students can opt for full-time or part-time courses right from class 12 level itself.
Apart from classroom sessions, there will be internships, industry visits, lectures by professionals and live case studies as part of the curriculum.
The course fee and duration of each course differs, the minimum being Rs 1 lakh for a 12-month course. Harsh Bhonsle, Director of Dell said, "Talent is the biggest challenge that our industry faces today. They know the concepts but cannot apply them. Of the 100 people who walk into our company seeking a job, only four or five are
employable graduates. This must be arrested if we have to grow."
